EUROSTAT SAYS BRITISH TOBACCO PRICES ARE HIGH COMPARED WITH CONTINENTAL EUROPE

BY MONICA DOBIE THE PRICE of tobacco products in Britain is the highest in the European Union (EU) claims EU statistics agency, Eurostat. In 2006, British tobacco goods were priced at 205% of the EU average with only non-EU member, Norway out-pricing it at 227% within the European Economic Area. Other expensive countries were Ireland at 186%, France 133%, Germany and Sweden both 119%, of the EU average.
