EUROPEAN TRADE DEAL WITH EAST AFRICAN COMMUNITY SET TO INCREASE TEXTILE TRADE

A comprehensive trade deal finalised Thursday (Oct 16), between the European Union (EU) and the East African Community (EAC), will boost trade, including textiles and non-wovens, between the two regions.According to the agreement, tariffs on EU exports to markets in EAC members Burundi, Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania and Uganda will be 80% tariff free for the next 15 years. “East African Community countries will now be able to focus on improving their economic performance without worrying about the potential loss of full duty-free quota-free access to the European ...
