BIG marketing stunts can boost sales of technical textiles and maybe one of the biggest examples in Europe this year was created by world renowned artists Christo. He created ‘The Floating Piers’ on Lake Iseo, near Brescia, in northern Italy. Over 16 days (until July 3), 1.2 million people strolled along a three kilometre long walkway, held up by a floating dock system made from high-density polyethylene cubes covered in 100,000 square meters of bright orange polyamide.
