EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT RAISES CONCERN OVER DELAYS IN PASSING EU COUNTERFEITING LAW

BY KEITH NUTHALL EUROPEAN Union (EU) ministers are being urged to stop delaying approval of a draft EU directive insisting on tough criminal penalties for organised criminals involved in copyright crimes and other intellectual property violations. Italian socialist MEP Nicola Zingaretti has been charged with piloting the measure through the European Parliament and pressed the EU Council of Ministers to approve the law, proposed in 2006.
