ETHICAL guidelines have been drafted for nutrigenomics, the tailoring of diets to fit a consumer's genetic profile. A food science with high potential for tightly formulated functional foods, including confectionary, the European Nutrigenomics Organisation (NuGO) says such genetic profiling poses ethical concerns, notably over privacy. Its bioethics guidelines cover disclosing genetic information, exchanging data samples and other issues.
