EUROPEAN COMMISSION PUSHES FOR POWER OVER NUTRITION CLAIMS

THE EUROPEAN Commission has made a second bid for new powers to amend European Union (EU) food legislation, without securing approval from the European Parliament or the EU Council of Ministers. Brussels earlier requested authority to change details of EU additives laws. Now it wants the same - by December 31 - regarding the incoming directive on foodstuff nutrition and health claims.
