EUROPEAN COMMISSION CONFIRMS BRUSSELS AIRPORT FEE REDUCTION REVERSAL

THE EUROPEAN Commission has formally confirmed an order that the Belgian government should not have allowed three airlines to benefit from reduced fees when flying to and from Brussels Airport. The Commission said the benefits broke European Union (EU) state aid rules. The airlines are Brussels Airlines, TUI Airlines Belgium and Thomas Cook Airlines Belgium, which received EUR16.8 million, EUR2.1 million and EUR77,000 in reduced fees respectively.
