EUROPEAN COMMISSION CLAIMS IMPROVEMENTS IN EU FRAUD PERFORMANCE

BY KEITH NUTHALL THE EUROPEAN Commission has reported a rare piece of significant good news regarding fraud against European Union (EU) spending and revenue collection. In its annual report on the 'Protection of the EU's Financial Interests', Brussels is claiming there were 1,230 financial irregularities reported as fraudulent, down 35% compared to 2010. The cost of these frauds also fell to Euro EUR404 million, down 37% from 2010.
