BY KEITH NUTHALLBEEF production in the European Union (EU) is likely to fall in the years to 2013 the European Commission is predicting, because of subsidy cuts under common agricultural policy (CAP) reform and the shrinking size of EU dairy herds. The Commission's 'report on prospects for agricultural markets and income 2006-2013 says annual production in the 27 member states should fall 330,000 tonnes to 7.7 million tonnes by 2013, with EU cattle numbers falling 6%.
