EU-UKRAINE DEAL

BY KEITH NUTHALLTHE EUROPEAN Commission has released details of the steel trade deal that it negotiated earlier this year with the Ukraine. The agreement will run until December 2006, or whenever the Ukraine joins the World Trade Organisation (WTO) if that comes earlier, mirroring a similar deal with Russia. Until then, this agreement would open a wide range of European Union (EU) import quotas for Ukraine steel products, including flat-rolled coils and other flat-rolled products, steel beams, wire rod and heavy plate.
