EUROPEAN Commission vice presidents Frans Timmermans (sustainable development) and Jyrki Katainen (jobs, growth, investment and competitiveness) May 28 unveiled a proposal to clampdown on single-use plastics across the European Union (EU), including a requirement for wet wipes and sanitary towels to carry warning labels.
