A NEW technique to test cosmetics for potential liver toxicity developed by the European Union's (EU) Joint Research Centre (JRC) has won the first Lush Science Prize. Awarded by the UK-based cosmetics company and Ethical Consumer magazine, a JRC note said the system was "based on...knowledge of toxicological processes [used] to identify key biological events... in...tailored 'in vitro' assays."
