THE EUROPEAN Commission has laid down the gauntlet to the fossil fuel sector, releasing a comprehensive long-term strategy that would halve the use of 'conventionally-fuelled' cars in urban transport by 2030, phasing them out in cities by 2050. This would include biofuels, said this white paper on a 'road map to a single European transport area'.
