EU REGULATORY ROUND UP – ECHA COMMITTEES BACK RESTRICTIONS ON COATINGS SPRAY CHEMICAL

KEY committees at the European Chemical Agency (ECHA) have recommended imposing restrictions on the use within the European Union (EU) of TDFAs (3,3,4,4,5,5,6,6,7,7,8,8,8-tride-cafluorooctyl)silanetriol and derivatives within coatings sprays.
ECHA’s Committee for Risk Assessment (RAC) and the Committee for Socio-Economic Analysis (SEAC) concluded that there were health risks associated with this chemical in sprays used to waterproof tiles and ceramics (plus textiles and leather).
