EU REDUCES INDIAN ANTI-BIOTICS COUNTERVAILING DUTIES

THE EUROPEAN Commission has asked European Union (EU) ministers to renew the levying of countervailing (anti-subsidy) duties on imports from India of certain broad spectrum antiobiotics. However, the Commission has proposed that these tariffs are lowered for the only company cooperating with its officials in investigations into these Indian government subsidies - Ranbaxy Laboratories Ltd. In a report, Brussels said: "The level of subsidisation has decreased", leading the Commission to propose slashing this duty from 30.3% to 11.9%. ...
