EU MINISTERS BACK GROUNDHANDLING REFORM PROPOSALS

BY KEITH NUTHALL THE EUROPEAN Union (EU) Council of Ministers has backed European Commission proposed reforms to EU groundhandling regulations, which would insist three groundhandling service providers are available at large airports. The proposals will now be debated at the European Parliament, which must also approve their terms. They also include rules that would allow member states to insist that groundhandling company staff can be transferred to a new company if their old employer lost a contract with an airline.
