Representatives of the European aluminium and non-ferrous metals industries are concerned the European Commission is propose split targets for aluminium and ferrous metals in packaging waste recycling, forcing the separate collection of these materials. At present, European Union (EU) recycling waste laws insists on collected metal being split from plastics, paper and glass, but not sorted by metal-type.The proposal comes in amendments tabled by Brussels on Wednesday (2 July) to EU waste laws, introducing new recycling targets until 2030.
