BY KEITH NUTHALLTHE EUROPEAN Commission has announced comprehensive plans to simplify or abolish 1,400 European Union (EU) rules on a wide range of topics - from health and safety, to company law. Part of a major overhaul of EU legislation to make European laws more user-friendly, EU industry Commissioner Günter Verheugen said: "This will have a positive effect on the competitiveness of our economy. But better regulation is not de-regulation. The policy objectives do not change, but the way to get there will be much easier, cheaper and more effective." ...
