EU LAUNCHES PROTECTIVE CLOTHING RESEARCH PROJECT

BY KEITH NUTHALL THE EUROPEAN Union (EU) has launched a Euro 4.2 million research project SAFEPROTEX that will develop highly protective clothing for complex emergency operations. Running until 2013 it will involve companies such as Palmhive Technical Textiles Ltd, of Nottingham, England; France's TDV Industries and Rescoll; Italy's Lenzi Egisto; Finland's TTY-Saatio; Spain's Suministros Irunako; Slovakia's Vyskumny Ustav Chemickych Vlakien; and Sweden's Swerea IVF.
