A SPECIAL forum should be established, where collecting societies, publishers and consumer electronics groups could forge a long-lasting agreement on copying fees, European Union (EU) internal market Commissioner Charlie McCreevy claims. He has tired of a sterile debate on compensating authors for private copying involving new technology, especially the views of collecting societies and consumer electronics companies, he told a European Commission hearing in Brussels this week (May 27).
