A EUROPEAN Union (EU)-backed research project has developed bio-based, ‘smart’ packaging for industries such as cosmetics that can help companies become more sustainable and provide useful data on the packaged content.
The DIBBIOPACK project used bio-based materials tailored to fit a wide range of packages in the cosmetics sector, as well as food and pharmaceuticals, such as films made by extrusion laminating, trays or lids developed by injection moulding and bottles performed through extrusion blow moulding technologies.
