EUROPEAN Union (EU) countries opting in to a new directive on a European Investigative Order (EIO) passed last Friday (March 14) by the EU Council of Ministers will have to carry out investigations at the request of another member state in the case of criminal proceedings.The directive introduces an automatic mutual recognition of investigation orders issued to another member state than where criminal proceedings are under way.
