EU CONSUMERS REPORT – CLOTHING

BY KEITH NUTHALLA COMPREHENSIVE report on the behaviour of European Union (EU) consumers has shown that Britain's recent deflation of prices in retail clothing is far from typical, with only six other member states in the 25-country bloc having the same experience. The European Commission report says between 1999 and 2003, only the Czech Republic, Denmark, Ireland, Cyprus, Lithuania and Sweden also encountered clothing deflation.
