The European Commission has proposed that minimum mandatory standards of whistleblower protection are imposed across the European Union (EU). Under proposed legislation, all companies with more than 50 employees or an annual turnover topping EUR10 million, as well as state, regional and local administrations would have to set up an internal procedure to handle whistleblowers’ reports.
