THE EUROPEAN Commission has asked for meat production specialists to bid for grants from a new Euro 20 million budget, funding research projects that will help fight bird flu. One priority area is the development of environment-friendly poultry production methods, more likely to impede the disease's spread. Application deadline: March 22. *See
