EU BIOFUEL DEMAND COULD LEAD TO BELGIUM-SIZED FEEDSTOCK FIELDS

A REPORT from environmental groups including Transport & Environment and Friends of the Earth has argued unused land twice as large as Belgium could be cultivated for biofuel feedstock within the European Union (EU): 'Anticipated Indirect Land Use Change Associated with Expanded Use of Biofuels in the EU' argues this would generate 73 million tonnes additional CO2 emissions annually.
