EU BIOCIDES ASSESSMENT WILL DAMAGE PAINT AND COATINGS MARKET, INDUSTRY CLAIMS

The European Commission’s review of biocides, under the European Union (EU) biocidal product regulation (widely known as the BPR, regulation No 528/2012), could lead to restrictions and bans of preservatives and paints essential to the market, industry experts have told Polymers Paint Colour Journal.
Biocidal products are defined by the Commission in a March 17 report on sustainable biocide use as disinfectants and wood preservatives widely used in materials such as paints, textiles and wood to protect them against microbial, fungi or insect decay.
