EU BAN ON US POULTRY IMPORTS REMAINS IN PLACE

PROPOSALS to allow the cleaning of poultry carcasses with antimicrobial substances have been rejected by the EU Council of Ministers. The decision means the de facto ban on American poultry imports into the EU remains, because of the US practice of treating carcasses with chlorine.
