EU ANTI-SMOKING STRATEGY

BY KEITH NUTHALLTHE EUROPEAN Commission has released a policy paper recommending that a dedicated European tobacco and nicotine products agency be set up, mirroring the creation of EU agencies to regulate the pharmaceutical, food and cosmetics industries. The agency should, it suggests, have the authority to authorise the sale of tobacco products on the EU market, as well as order and conduct research into tobacco and nicotine.
