EU 1999 REPORT

BY KEITH NUTHALLTHE EUROPEAN Commission has released a report on "Investment in the Community (EU) coal and steel industries" that tracks the sector's performance in the European Union during 1999. The report predicts that "all the coal-consuming sectors except the steel industry see their requirements declining over the coming years," faced with the competition of natural gas.
