ERC REGULATION APPROVED BY THE EUROPEAN COMMISSION

BY KEITH NUTHALLTHE EUROPEAN Commission has legally established the European Research Council (ERC) ahead of its launch in Berlin next week (Tuesday and Wednsday). Brussels formally agreed that the ERC would have a budget of Euro 7.5 billion over the next seven years, which will be spent on ground-breaking basic research, especially encouraging new researchers. The council will be led by a Scientific Council of 22 renowned scientists from across Europe and chaired by Professor Fotis Kafatos of Imperial College London.
