BY KEITH NUTHALLTHE EUROPEAN Investment Bank (EIB) has drawn up plans to lend Canada's First Quantum Minerals Ltd up to Euro 50 million to help develop a new open pit copper mine in north-western Zambia and an associated dedicated power supply. The Kansanshi copper project is projected to yield 60,000 tonnes per annum of copper cathodes and up to 70,000 tonnes per year of copper concentrates over an initial projected life of 16 years.
