EIB SPENDING

THE EUROPEAN Investment Bank is claiming that it spent Euro 9 billion in 2001 on projects boosting the environment and the quality of life, within and outside the European Union. Loans for water and sewerage schemes totalled Euro 946 million, for improving air quality Euro 846 million, energy saving Euro 790 million and energy substitution Euro 723 million.
