EIB PLOTS MAJOR LOAN TO OSLO AIRPORT

BY KEITH NUTHALL

THE EUROPEAN Investment Bank (EIB) is planning to lend Norwegian airport operator Avinor up to Euro EUR300 million to help finance the first phase of a planned extension of Oslo Airport. This involves expanding the existing terminal with a new pier, building additional departure and arrival areas, plus new baggage handling facilities. The aim is increasing the airport's annual capacity from 22 to 28 million passengers. An EIB note said the expansion "is aimed at meeting demand growth and to lessen congestion".
