BY KEITH NUTHALLTHE EUROPEAN Food Safety Authority (EFSA) has given its approval to proposals being debated in Whitehall that Britain scrap its upper 30-month age limit for exportable cattle, ruling the UK should be considered a "moderate risk" for BSE exposure. EFSA said additional auxiliary controls would be required to take account of the increased risk to other European Union (EU) consumers caused by scrapping the 30 month rule, such as removing specified risk material and tough feed rules irrespective of age.
