ECJ SHALLOTS FRANCE SEEDS BULBS CASE

A DE FACTO national ban on the sale within France of shallots produced from seeds, rather than the traditional French farming method of using bulbs, breaks European Union (EU) free trading laws, the European Court of Justice (ECJ) has ruled. Such vegetables can be sold in France, but may not be called shallots.
