ECJ JUDGE URGES COMMISSION TO GO PUBLIC ON AIRLINE BANNED CARRY ON ITEM LIST

A EUROPEAN Court of Justice (ECJ) judge has found illegal a refusal of the European Commission to release a black list of potentially dangerous items banned from hand luggage on European Union (EU) civil airliners. ECJ advocate general Eleanor Sharpston found this breached EU treaty commitments on transparency, even though the confidentiality was written into an EU regulation. If her formal opinion is backed by the full court, the Commission would probably be forced to publish the list.
