STORIES BY KEITH NUTHALL TOBACCO giants RJ Reynolds and Japan Tobacco may lose a comprehensive legal challenge to the unsuccessful efforts of the European Commission to sue for racketeering at a New York federal US court. The case, which rival Philip Morris later settled out of court, sparked claims that the Commission had acted beyond its powers. If proven, Brussels could have been prevented launching similar actions in the future.
