January 1st, 2005 BY KEITH NUTHALL THE EUROPEAN Court of Justice (ECJ) has struck down a European Union (EU) directive that requires manufacturers of compound animal feedingstuffs to indicate, at a customer's request, its exact composition. In five linked cases, hearing three complaints against directive 2002/2 from 10 feed companies, (six from the UK), judges ruled this part of the law "invalid in the light of the principle of proportionality".
