DEVELOPING COUNTRIES GAIN DUTY AND QUOTA FREE ACCESS TO GLOBAL COTTON MARKET

Cotton from less developed countries (LDCs) will be given duty and quota free access to global markets after a decision at a World Trade Organisation’s (WTO’s) 10th ministerial meeting in Nairobi on Friday (Dec 18).
The decision, which acknowledges the vital importance of the cotton sector to LDCs, includes three agricultural elements: market access, domestic support and export competition.
