DEMAND FOR HOTPOT, KOREAN BBQ DRIVING US BEEF IMPORTS IN TAIWAN

Prospects for US beef sales in Taiwan are looking rosy, buoyed by a good economy and greater demand from Korean BBQ and hotpot restaurants sourcing high quality cuts, according to the US Meat Export Federation (USMEF). Joel Haggard, the association’s senior vice president of its Asia-Pacific office, in Hong Kong, told GlobalMeatNews: for the past year or so “there’s a kind of a ‘meat boom’ happening; what we’re seeing is more outlets trying to do business with beef on their menus,” and adding that a “robust” economic growth was fueling diner ...
