BY ALAN OSBORNA SIGNIFICANT increase in the number of seizures of counterfeit accessories and clothing by European Union (EU) customs officials in 2002 has been reported by the European Commission, which says that the trend has continued, and in some cases accelerated, in the current year. The Commission says that while seizures of clothing doubled during the year, there was an even greater increase in confiscations of bogus accessories such as handbags, belts, spectacles and shoes, while seizures of counterfeit cosmetics and perfumes rose by over 300 per cent ...
