COMMISSION LAUNCHES LEGAL ACTION ON CONTROLLING RADIOACTIVE SOURCES

THE EUROPEAN Commission has formally threatened legal action against Denmark, France, Portugal and Sweden for failing to install continuous safety controls required by a European Union (EU) directive on 'the control of high-activity sealed radioactive sources and orphan sources'. Brussels alleges the Danes have implemented only some of the necessary protective rules, while the French, Portuguese and Swedes have done nothing.
