THE RULING Commission of the Codex Alimentarius is this week considering approving two new codes of practice covering hygienic practice for meat and minimising antimicrobial resistance. Codex is also considering simplifying its rules, replacing 10 individual hygienic meat practice codes with one new science-based meat-hygiene guideline, prepared with the UN Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO).
