CO2 SINKS

UP to 30 per cent of the carbon dioxide emissions caused by industry in the EU could be absorbed by forests and other "carbon sinks" according to CarboEurope, an EU research project developing ways to reduce greenhouse gases. Some 160 research institutions in over 20 countries are involved in CarboEurope, whose Euro 25 million, (GBPounds 15 million), annual budget is met by the European Commission.
