April 1st, 2017 Manufacturers in China, which buys approximately 80% of Australian wool exports, are particularly nervous about the pricing, even as the beginning of the warmer spring season in the north of China is naturally reducing demand. Chinese wool factories have been running 24/7 on Australian wool ever since the China-Australia Free Trade Agreement (ChAFTA) in December 2015 granted Australian wool exporters duty-free treatment for up to 30,000 tonnes of clean wool each year.
