THE FIRST airport slot auction has been staged in mainland China, with seven carriers securing rights to nine slots at Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport for three years. Chinese state media has announced that major Chinese carriers were victorious, including Urumqi Air, a subsidiary of Hainan Airlines; Shenzhen Airlines, China Southern Airlines, China Eastern Airlines and Xiamen Airlines.
