A high level symposium staged yesterday (April 18) in Brussels on reducing excess capacity and structural adjustment in the steel sector failed to agree a formal action plan to end the worldwide steel glut.
Some delegates blamed China for the lack of a deal. “We had a nice agreement, but the Chinese blocked everything,” one Belgian delegate told Steel First on the way to the press conference, following the meeting.
