CANADA EU TRADE DEAL OFFERS ACCESS TO CANADIAN MEAT EXPORTERS

BY KEITH NUTHALL EUROPEAN Union (EU) ministers have been asked to approve a trade agreement with Canada giving its exporters the rights to send 1,000's of tonnes of meat to EU markets. The deal incorporates annual import rights previously offered by the 10 countries that joined the EU in 2004, to be transformed into pan-EU access. New quotas would include: 4,624 tonnes of pork rate at Euro 233 to 434/tonne duty; 1,265 tonnes of frozen boneless hams and loins at Euro 250/tonne; 4,070 tonnes of various chicken cuts at Euro 93 to 512/tonne; 1,605 tonnes of fowl ...
