CALLS GROW TO HELP NURSES TO TACKLE EARLY DEMENTIA IN PATIENTS

WITH as many as 400,000 people with dementia still going undiagnosed in the UK according to the Alzheimer's Society, nurses can play a crucial role in spotting early signs of the disease.
But there are real challenges here - especially when nurses receive "very little" dementia awareness education, and "sometimes only one educational session during their three years of training," said Ian Weatherhead, lead nurse of Admiral Nursing DIRECT, the national helpline of Dementia UK.
